Communicating with Our Members

OAPA Internet Services

The OAPA Noticeboard: The Board of Directors sends out information to members on a variety of topics relevant to psychological associates and psychology in general. It alerts members to job openings which are posted on the OAPA website. This is not an interactive service among members but individual members may send replies/comments back to the Board c/o Jancy King, Director of Communications. All members who provide an email address will be automatically added to the Noticeboard list, since this is the major route of information to the membership.

The OAPA Referral Service: Members may advertise their professional services on the OAPA website, which is also linked in Google for a broader outreach to the public. The charge is $50 for one year. More information about this service can be found here.

The OAPA Member Listserv: This is an interactive service by which members may communicate with each other to ask questions, seek advice and share information. Only those members who elect to join the listserv have access to the email; outsider intrusion is prevented by the secure system which we have purchased through Primus. The listserv is closely monitored by the Board and managed by Lisa Griffiths, OAPA Secretary. Participants must adhere to the Listserv Rules described below.

OAPA Listserv Rules

The following rules are to be respected by all participants on the OAPA Listserv:

Communications will at all times be professional and respectful in tone.  Communications which could be described as rude, vexatious, harassing, abusive, profane, knowingly false or inaccurate, invasive of a person's privacy, objectionable, hurtful, or in the nature of a personal attack will not be tolerated.

The listserv is not to be used for the dissemination of advertisements, chain letters, solicitations and pyramid schemes. Members are welcome to submit to the listserv a notice of professional accomplishment such as the publication of an article or book, or to advertise or request office space or professional materials, or to refer a client they are unable to serve.

Participants are not allowed to post any copyrighted material unless they own the copyright.

Participants will use "reply all"/”reply” only when the response is clearly relevant to everyone. To reply to only the sender, the sender’s email address must be typed in the “to” box. This is particularly important when exchanging information that could compromise client confidentiality.

OAPA will monitor all listserv messages and reserves the right to remove the address of any participant whose communications do not adhere to the above rules and/or about which complaints have been received.
